Discipline

Alright I lied.....
The next post wasn't tomorrow mornings....how bout like two weeks later....

Lets talk about this man named Jesus.
Who was he and how can we learn about discipline and consistency through his word?
Well first lets look at Jesus through spiritual lenses. He is the son of God, the savior of the world. It is through him that we receive the power of salvation. There is no greater gift than to have this salvation. No through works so man could boast but through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gives our lives a spiritual element that not only enriches our daily walk with him but also is reflected through our consistency and dicipline. He gave us commands to enrich our lives and these commands where only able to be carried out through the dicipline the Holy Spirit would give us.
More over, Jesus Christ was the perfect example of self control. A mean with so much power yet he exercised meekness. Mathew 10:34 says, “Do not think that I have come to bring 60 peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, 10:36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. 61

10:37 “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 10:38 And whoever does not take up his cross 62 and follow me is not worthy of me. 10:39 Whoever finds his life 63 will lose it, 64 and whoever loses his life because of me 65 will find it.

Does this mean the Lord was a violent character? No!!! what it shows us is the dicipline he requires us to have in order to follow him. We should be willing to give up our family's, those closest to us in order to follow him fully. God is our creator, our parents have only birthed us. Where do our loyalties lay? The most amazing part of this verse I think comes in 10:38 Who ever does not take up his cross is unworthy of me!!! Wow this is asking us to bear the pain that the world has in order to become his Disciple. Does that sound like it takes dicipline or WHAT?!?!

Who was Jesus Christ?
The man who went to his death for preaching that he was the Son of God.
Would you be willing to be put to death for preaching he was the Son of God?
truth is that is the ultimate measure of dicipline and from that we can draw the power to become disciplined in all areas of life.
"Do all things as if unto the Lord."
Our daily lives and dicipline of the mind will come down to how much we practice being like the Lord.
Staying consistent in prayer and in biblical reading will strengthen your mind and give you the practice you need to carry that dicipline to other parts of your life.

Is it easy....NO!!!
Can you do it....YES!!

It takes time and effort and dedication but with practice you can strengthen your mind and become more disciplined.

A Few Tips!!!
-Practice memorizing scripture, pick a few verse this week and memorize them.
-If you are not on a set scripture reading plan get on one!!! this is a great one http://net.bible.org/daily.php go there daily to see your daily scripture. Make it your home page even!!!
-If you don't have a schedule make one!!! This will help you become disciplined and have time to do what you need to do. You only have 24 hours a day...plan accordingly.
-If you do have a schedule make time to read your scripture..This is vital to growing spiritually. you can grow if you don't eat!!!
-Prioritize, don't spend time on things that will be useless and have no benefit. Especially when you have more important things to get to on your schedule. example: don't spent 2 hours on face book and my space when you need to be studying!!! ( for all the student out there)
-Pray pray pray for the mental dicipline to do what you have to do and to be consistent. Believe me there is much power in Prayer!!
